Was WW1 Worth It?

WW1 is notorious in history for being known as the first world war and many other things. We all know that there are reasons behind the war, but what many people forget to put into consideration is the fact that these reasons may not truly justify the price it had attached to it.

During and after WW1 many significant events occurred that helped to shape Canada into the independent and free country that it is today. Events such as the Paris Peace Conference and other significant battles for Canada such as the battle of Ypres have helped shaped Canada into the independent and free country it is today. In the Paris Peace Conference, Canada was first recognised and respected as it's own independent nation who helped to fight relentlessly to help Britain and make a name for itself. I think that WW1 was a complete waste of lives, property, and money. Personally I think that the main reasons behind WW1 were pride, greed, and the assassinations. The death of over 20 million people cannot be justified over what they were fighting for (pride, land, resources). I think that they could have come to a peaceful agreement if they really wanted to in the first place, but they were full of pride which is what caused the quick call for war. Nothing in this world is worth the death of 20 million people, which include at least 4 million civilian deaths. In my opinion it was 100% not worth the "benefits" that Canada received. If you would not sacrifice one of your family members for independence from Britain, then you are definitely with me.
