Hitler: Master of Words

Adolf Hitler is known for the many unspeakably evil things he has done. However, one thing that stood out in particular to me was that he was that he had a way with words. He encouraged people to believe many of the sick conspiracies and to follow his devilish commands. In many of his speeches, he would not bluntly say his intentions. He would cover his harsh ideologies in mountains of friendly sounding words to make it sound pleasing to the fellow Nazis and supporters.

I think that Hitler was a ruthless dictator that only followed his own ideas, and never saw the degree of evil that his actions were.

Hitler continued his reign of Germany, by trying to rid Germany of all other races except for pure Germans. He killed about 17 million people in trying to do so. Hitlers actions cannot be justified. His actions were completely evil and ruthless. He killed children, babies, elderly, he just did not care. The fact that he was able to convince many people (Nazis) that what they were doing was right, clearly shows that he did in fact have a way with words.

Was WW1 Worth It?

WW1 is notorious in history for being known as the first world war and many other things. We all know that there are reasons behind the war, but what many people forget to put into consideration is the fact that these reasons may not truly justify the price it had attached to it.

During and after WW1 many significant events occurred that helped to shape Canada into the independent and free country that it is today. Events such as the Paris Peace Conference and other significant battles for Canada such as the battle of Ypres have helped shaped Canada into the independent and free country it is today. In the Paris Peace Conference, Canada was first recognised and respected as it's own independent nation who helped to fight relentlessly to help Britain and make a name for itself. I think that WW1 was a complete waste of lives, property, and money. Personally I think that the main reasons behind WW1 were pride, greed, and the assassinations. The death of over 20 million people cannot be justified over what they were fighting for (pride, land, resources). I think that they could have come to a peaceful agreement if they really wanted to in the first place, but they were full of pride which is what caused the quick call for war. Nothing in this world is worth the death of 20 million people, which include at least 4 million civilian deaths. In my opinion it was 100% not worth the "benefits" that Canada received. If you would not sacrifice one of your family members for independence from Britain, then you are definitely with me.

Racism In Recruitment

Racism In Recruitment. The name says it all. Canadians from coast to coast were eager to serve their country by doing their part in the war. They registered to serve in the war and were accepted if they passed the extremely basic requirements. However, not passing the requirements wasn't the only reason that some citizens were turned down. Cultures/Races that were considered minorities in Canada at the time, were rejected. In my opinion this was absolutely pointless and benefited Canada in no way whatsoever, especially since they were in need of troops at the time. I believe that the only real reason that this was happening was due to the selfish pride of the racist recruitment officers. Racism is completely wrong in every way, but what I don't understand is that even when the "minority" races wanted to volunteer to serve their country by fighting and even possible dying, were not allowed to do so. The war was believed to be a "white man's war" by most of the troops and officers (obviously white) in the army at the time. This just doesn't make any sense to me. Canada was a diverse country, yet a "white man's war" ?

After the racism issue was brought to light, excuses were made by the recruitment officers as to why accepting "minority" races into the army would be a problem. This made me quite upset simply for the fact that they couldn't even just get rid of their selfish pride and admit that what they were doing was inconsiderate and extremely disrespectful towards their fellow citizens. Apparently, blacks fighting enemy whites would "promote violence against whites in their home country" and "if aboriginals were captured during war they would be treated poorly". Excuses excuses excuses, but this stopped during 1915-1916 when casualties on the battlefield mounted. Then miraculously... the officers realised that what they were doing didn't make much sense and that they needed more troops. Can you guess what they did? Yes, the ban on Aboriginal Canadian enlistment was lifted, and a few months later the other minority races were able to join. I believe that the casualties and conflict could have easily been prevented, although it eventually was resolved, it cost many lives and broken spirits. I hope nothing like this ever repeats itself, it is pointless, selfish, and disrespectful.
